Privacy overview

The short version: your private notes are never visible to anyone else, and nothing from an intake form goes to All Shadchanim until a person approves it.

shadchan.im is operated by Institute for Shidduchim Inc (“we”, “us”). We store profile and matchmaking information for approved shadchanim and authorized Shidduch Organization staff. Access depends on a user's role, organization affiliations, assignments, and deliberate sharing choices.

Public intake

Information submitted through an organization intake form is private to that organization while it is reviewed. It is not published to the shadchan network unless authorized staff approve it.

Who can see an approved profile

After publication, approved shadchanim may see the structured profile information needed for shidduch work. This can include a precise address, direct phone numbers, family and religious background, education, preferences, references, a resume, and photos according to their visibility setting. Authorized staff of every actively affiliated Shidduch Organization may also see the profile's suggestion history. A shadchan's private notes and labels, and another organization's private notes, are not included in that access.

Text and WhatsApp messaging

We use phone numbers to send and receive SMS and WhatsApp messages related to the service. This includes account notifications, intake or application updates, and conversational messages a user starts with the service.

We only message numbers that opted in: by creating an account and providing a number, by submitting an intake form that includes a number, or by messaging us first. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or reply HELP for help. You can also opt out using the contact form. We do not sell or share phone numbers or message content with third parties for their marketing purposes. Messages are transmitted through our messaging provider, Twilio.

Corrections, withdrawal, and removal

To request a correction, withdraw an intake submission, ask for removal, or raise another privacy concern, use the contact form and choose Profile correction or Privacy request.
